Review of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) by Mark S — 01 Jan 2015
This has nothing to do with Tintin except for the names and look of the characters. It is a typical Speilberg adventure movie with a sad, Moffat authored, story that takes "elements" of the Tintin stories, to produce a final product that is *completely* unlike the spirit of the original stories, where the characters bare little - if any - resemblance to the characters, as indeed does the story.
I can not imagine any Tintin fan being interested in this at all. If you want to make a film with so little resemblance to the source material, why call it a Tintin film? I can only think to play off the name.
The best that can be said is that perhaps it will interest some in the original stories - although I doubt that those that like the film would appreciate the books. Sadly, this is just a cynical attempt to take a well loved icon, and with, no idea of what makes that original great, arogantly rewite it to create an bland, over the top, run of the mill adventure movie, with no originality.
