Review of The Adventures of Tintin (2011) by Hiatt N — 02 Sep 2012
Tintin really would be great, were it not so exhausting. The action sequences are absolutely incredible, the animation flawless (if a little creepy at times), the story couldn't be wound tighter with an allen-key.
Still, Tintin is such a draining experience that our bodies can't keep up with what's happening. I absolutely loved the first hour of the film, but as it continued at the same breakneck clip (actually SPEEDING UP) my eyes started to hurt, my brain started to chug, and my heart slowed down.
I was very ready for this film to be over by the time it was, and I felt sluggish and headachy immediately after. Still, an admirable film from Mr. Spielberg, and would be at least four stars if it lost twenty minutes and gained a few scenes of tranquility.
Honestly, this one is better watched over two days to give yourself time to recover from the first half, and if you're saying that, something's definitely wrong.
