Review of The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000) by Kevin R — 15 Jun 2014
We are the most terrifying villains in the history of children's television.
Rocky, Bullwinkle, and all of their friends, and villains, have been stuck in reruns for over 30 years on public television. Boris, Natasha, and their Fearless Leader find a way to warp into real life. The government decides to give the case to one of their weakest officers, who is assigned Rocky and Bullwinkle to stop the notorious villains. Can Rocky and Bullwinkle be as successful in real life as they are in the cartoons?
"I assume you're both computer literate.".
Des McAnuff, director of The Tempest, 700 Sundays, Cousin Bette, and Caesar and Cleopatra, delivers The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. The storyline for this picture actually reminded me of Rat Race with two cartoons added to the cast. The plot was nothing special and the animation was okay. The make-up was pretty good but the acting was below par. The cast includes Robert De Niro, Jason Alexander, Renee Russo, Randy Quaid, Piper Perabo, John Goodman, David Alan Grier, Doug Jones, Billy Crystal, and Whoopi Goldberg.
"You weigh 400 imaginary pounds.".
"But it's all moosle.".
My daughter and I watched this movie this morning and when I first put it on she said, "that's daddy's movie." I finally convinced her this movie was for her, and as soon as the movie started, she was hooked. She loved every second of this film, from beginning to end. I can't say this was a good movie, it was definitely below par, but you may be surprised to discover kids love it (mine sure did)!
"Quick, let's go to commercial.".
Grade: C-.
