Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Lorenzo V — 09 Mar 2009
This was recommended to me by my father. I had heard of this movie many times before but I had never really gotten around to seeing it. Maybe I was a little apprehensive about the year this was released.
When I watched it though, I was completely hooked. This movie was just plain fun. It is everything you want from an adventure movie and everything you want from a Robin Hood movie. Errol Flynn was the perfect actor to play Robin Hood.
He is witty and funny, while being serious about his ideals and what he feels for his country. Basil Rathbone was really great as Sir Guy. Their swordfight at the end was amazingly filmed. Also, if you didn't notice the great chemistry between Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, then you are blind.
Each scene in which they are together shined. I don't think there is a Robin Hood movie that can top this one.
