Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Adam K — 22 Sep 2009
Same great characters, same great story, same great fun. At first I thought it was gimmicky and obsolete given the newer version of this classic tale, but as I continued to watch I began to realize that this was more than just an early version of of Robin, but rather something that is able to stand alone on itself.
I still like the other versions (Disney, Prince of Thieves, and Men in Tights) better believe it or not. But now I know what Errol Flynn is all about, and I did really enjoy him as Robin. Claude Rains, of course, spectacular, and Olivia de Havilland was great.
Despite some shoddy camera work at times and kind of obvious bad editing in some of the action scenes I had a good time.
