Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Anton B — 19 May 2010
Memorable for Erich Wolfgang Korngold's great score, Errol Flynn's brash Robin Hood, Claude Rains effeminate Prince John, the outrageously jovial Merry Men, the lavish sets (particularly Gisbourne's enormous castle hall), the wildly bright costumes, and the riotous use of Technicolor in general.
"The Adventures of Robin Hood" is still the best Robin Hood movie, although it is almost excessively lighthearted. I don't think it is the best swashbuckling adventure though.
