Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Caleb M — 15 Jun 2010
A grand adventure on a par with The Wizard of Oz. Such excitement, color, fun and joy in one picture is a rare thing, but The Adventures of Robin Hood never fails to be anything less that gorgeous entertainment.
Flynn is perfect as Robin Hood; charming, brave, head strong, and romantic, plus his physical command of the character makes one wish for more in-depth physicality in today's action heros. Instead of constant rapid cutting, let the actors do their job and convince us their characters can actually take down (or be taken down by) their enemies.
