Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Kristin H — 16 Jul 2010
Some people may consider this movie old and dated, but it really isn't. Yes, the costumes were interesting and the script was sometime cheesy, but this was a classic in every since of the word. Errol Flynn's portrayal of Robin Hood is probably the most epic in movie history for that character.
Olivia de Havilland played the unusually strong and resourceful Marion in this. Olivia and Errol make a wonderful screen couple; they have fabulous chemistry. Robin Hood has dialogue that is funny at times and usually flows easily.
The action in this movie was amazing for the year (1938). It's one of those movies you can see many times and still enjoy it, as if it was your first viewing of it.
