Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Thomas B — 31 Mar 2011
It deserves all the credit it receives. It's a wonderful work of entertainment and, yes, the Technicolor is all that and a bag of chips. However, I still prefer The Sea Hawk. It has a more dramatic love story and is more gruesome and menacing - Errol Flynn isn't so jolly perfect this time around, he really has to dig deep the save the day.
I also think it's his best collaboration with Michael Curtiz and the score by Erich Wolfgang Korngold is much more exciting. Frankly, I consider the film to be the best of any swashbuckler adventure.
