Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Ameena M — 18 Jun 2011
Don't have any problems with movies from this time period, but this one is the example of the cheesy 1930's movie. The plot drags on and on, the first half is pretty good but the second half leaves something to be desired, right after the scene where robin meets Marion outside the window, it starts to go downhill, they should have just ended it after the archery contest.
The acting is sort of not terrible, Errol Flynn does a pretty good job with the character. Olivia de Havilland is really just pleasant to look at, her performance is very generic. Basil Rathbone was a very underrated actor, his performance is the best out of the whole cast.
I did actually sort of dislike this film, and I have no idea why it's so highly acclaimed, it's nothing more than a light hear-ted movie that seems to be made for a dumb audience who can't do any thinking.
