Review of The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) by Michael T — 24 Apr 2012
Good Points: (1) Errol Flynn actually has an English accent (sorry Kevin); (2) Basil Rathbone was the best swordsmen in technocolour Hollywood; (3) the duel between Robin Hood (Flynn) and Sir Guy (Rathbone) is a classic; (4) Flynn had great screen chemistry with Olivia de Haviland (who is cast as Maid Marion).
Bad Points: (1) Medieval swords were too bloody heavy to fence with the way Flynn and Rathbone do; (2) some of the filming was obviously in a fake Sherwood Forest built on a soundstage.
