Review of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) by Rachel H — 25 Oct 2010
I agreed to watch this movie just thinking "DRAG QUEENS!!!", but while I watched this movie, I realized that it was so much more than that. It had all the fun and all the cool costumes, but it also had a ton of heart. All in all, I just loved it.
Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving, and Terrence Stamp gave it their all with fantastic performances as Mitzi/Anthony, Felicia/Adam, and Bernadette/Ralph. Not only were their performances really fun and hilarious, but they could be serious when the moment called for it.
The costumes were just fantastic. In a movie about drag queens, I expected the costumes to be fantastic, but let's just say the lady who did the costumes won an oscar for a reason. My personal favourite was Mitzi's dress made out of flip-flops and Felicia's silver costume that she wore on top of the bus.
I would reccomend this movie to anyone. It's pretty clean, so even children could probably watch it.
