Review of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) by Viken M — 03 Dec 2007
What can I say about Priscilla! I'd say it made me gay, if I weren't already so gay when I'd seen it. It did make me gayer I think as it gave me lots of fodder for conversation with other gays - for a while my friends and I used quoted this movie to describe so many situations in our lives.
Lines from Priscilla would find their way into our day to day conversations ...littering our dialogues all the time. This movie was a phenomenon in queer history - one of the first big gay movies that the queer community unanimously adored.
It was also neet to see Terence Stamp play the transexual - few remember him from his sexy hotty days in the 70's when he worked for the gayest filmmakers like Passolinin and Fellini - but later on he dipped into the B-movies (which he's never quite managed to pull himself out of) as the main villan in Superman II.
Great soundtrack and that scene with the stiletto heel on the bus in unbelievable.
