Review of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) by Andy O — 17 Sep 2009
I think that everyone has a movie that you put on to cheer you up, a comfy old sock that is guaranteed to make you smile and provide a entertaining couple of hours, Priscilla is that movie for me.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert is a Australian movie about 2 drag Queens and a Transsexual that just want to entertain and make a fabulous living in heels, life however is more complicated than that.
The gang set off on a road trip to play a gig in Alice Springs (far away from there native sydney) and learn a lot about themselves and life along the way.
With some laugh out loud performances by Hugo Weaving and Terence stamp as well as excellent slapstick comedy by Guy Pearce Pricilla is Mamma Mia with a plot and it really is the pinnacle of comedic cinema as well as being completely fabulous !.
(5 stars).
