Review of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) by Todd G — 03 May 2011
A film that challenges the Australian idea of masculinity and focuses on the normalization of homosexuality/drag queen-ing. What I thought would be a film just littered with gay jokes in poor taste turned out to be an extremely heartwarming take on friendship, fatherhood, and emotional intimacy betwixt individuals .
Plus it was wonderful to see Hugo Weaving, Guy Pierce, and Terence Stamp dress up like women and attack Australian values.
