Review of The Adventures of Milo and Otis (1986) by Jorge D — 20 Apr 2010
There were many inaccuracies in this movie portraying the pug breed. Pugs do not fight bears. Nor do they live in the snow in caves waiting for fellow pugs to rescue them. Another problem with this movie was an orange cat floating for miles in the river and then fought a snake and AMAZINGLY won the fight. The cat also met up with the bear, outsmarted the bear and moved along. How long were Milo and Otis actually lost for? It seemed like there was a long time where no humans were searching for them.
Had this based on a real pug, the movie would have been 10 minutes long with the pug falling asleep on the first couch he found, and yes, he would have found a couch. That's what pugs do. That's their thing.
The cat would have either drowned or gotten eaten alive by various predators in the wild.
I am a pug owner and am HIGHLY offended by the inaccuracies associated with the pug breed. You cannot portray a pug to be able to survive in the wild. Pugs don't do that. Pugs cannot run through the snow at the speed and stamina that Otis had. Cats cannot possibly float in the river for miles without getting eaten by something or drowning.
Although I love pugs, I am VERY disappointed in this movie and would like everyone to know that PUGS DO NOT LIVE IN SNOW CAVES.
