Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Kenny S — 04 Jun 2009
What a feast for the eyes, even for today!! Terry Gilliam obviously had a knack for innovation and lunacy. This film is not for all tastes and wouldn't be for mine if it weren't for the humor and breathtaking visuals.
Where does one think up this stuff? Oh yeah and Uma Thurman is in it: beautious even when clothed. Olver Reed is in it too--I kept thinking where have I seen that guy before? Plenty of other cameos and familiar faces to populate the movie.
The depiction of the grim reaper is possibly the most definitively terrifying and specacular I have ever seen. I would love to see this again, but with someone who actually enjoys it. I'll admit there were parts I coudn't even stand (the whole sequence on the moon--gag).
Otherwise, well worth seeing.
