Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Philip O — 10 Jun 2008
This is probably something I would have watched every day had I known about this as a child. But I'm not sure it stands up to close scrutiny--definitely not as Gilliam's other work. The somewhat confusing clash of fantasy/reality obliterates the emotional connection to the characters, which is really critical considering that the film depends on that link for any lasting remembrance, which renders meaning obsolete.
