I think you're all missing the point. This was adapted from a book for kids. It's nice to see a movie that's truly family oriented. Face it, kids don't get the deeper political contexts and don't care about the romance and flirting in Hollywood movies.

They like the action and explosions, sure, but often barely get the gist. This is paced for 8-13 year-olds and I found it charming. There's so little product really made for that age group these days.
