Review of The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2014) by Reini U — 22 Aug 2014
This is an interesting history bastard. Hugely CG intensive sea battles, but with horribly bad digital effects. The CGI ships glide like toy ships through the bathtub.
A very interesting underdog story and the film understands to deliver the right message. It's a korean movie after all, and not another stupid US war epos. But then it totally overdoes it by ridiculing itself with hilarious common folks scenes.
Choi Min-Sik underplays the clever admiral, and we never know what he is after, even if he announces his strategy at the beginning. "Let the fear play for us.".
A very interesting history lesson afterall.
