Review of The Accountant (2016) by Jake M — 26 Mar 2017
The Accountant is one of the most interesting films of the year, the film is about a man named Christian Wolff an accountant with an autism like condition that makes him great with numbers and because of that he is extremely good at his job, and works with some of the most dangerous criminal organizations.
Ben Affleck plays Christian Wolff and he is great for the part, which is great considering the fact that he had a lukewarm performance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Anna Kendrick is shockingly good in this film as well and it was great seeing her in an action film as opposed to being in her more famous roles in comedies, I hope to see her in more action roles.
The film has a shockingly great cast which includes John Lithgow, Jon Bernthal, J.K Simmons, Jeffery Tambor, and Jean Smart who all do a great job for the parts they play. The Accountant is not a perfect film, in fact it can get extremely slow at times, also if your looking for a nonstop action film with a lot of violence and endless shootout/fight sequences (not saying theres not any just saying theres not a lot compared to other action films) this isn't the film for you, and you don't have to be smart to enjoy The Accountant but it does help.
Though The Accountant isn't a beyond perfect action movie it is still extremely enjoyable due to its crisp writing, sharp dialogue, great cast, and surprisingly intelligent moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
What I also really liked about this film was how the main character had flaws to him and wasn't your typical action movie hero who is perfect in every way possible. The Accountant is one of the smartest, and interesting film I have seen in a while if you want a smart, but slow paced action/mystery film than I highly recommend The Accountant for you I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
