Review of The Accountant (2016) by Tropicaces — 13 Oct 2016
For the first 2/3 of this film, it's great. Fun writing, thrilling shootouts and dedicated, charming performances. However then the film quite literally comes to a screeching halt to give us a 20 minute (no hyperbole) exposition scene from JK Simmons on the Accountant's past. I would rather have just seen those things play out in real time instead of narrated over a montage.
Still, it's an immensely entertaining ride and in a year of disappointing tentpoles, this is both original and one of 2016's best.
