Review of The Accountant (2016) by Ginak — 13 Oct 2016
The Accountant is an interesting and eccentric movie that is well worth seeing. But it is unconventional and has some faults, and perhaps that’s why a lot of critics I trust had a bad day with it and gave it low marks it does not deserve.
Ben Affleck and all the other actors are excellent. The problem, I think, lies in the editing. The “childhood” section goes on much too long (I was thinking about what to have for dinner), but the rest of the film moved along in a hectic “autistic” mode, which helps you make sense of things in a strange way and makes Christian Wolff (Affleck) very sympathetic.
If you “go with it,” The Accountant is a very enjoyable film with its own version of a happy ending.
