Review of The Accountant (2016) by Catherine W — 29 Dec 2016
I appreciate complex films that deliver a balance of rich character development, action and suspense with unexpected twists. The Accountant achieves this well. Belatedly you will recognize that every action, every detail, every facial expression is a clue.
The film set-up a story for sequels. My only wish was that some of the revelations about the lead character had waited for the sequels. Sadly the reveal of the complex characters and plots was unnecessarily rushed in a single expository scene.
I think viewing audiences, as evidenced by the ratings of this film, show a willingness to be patient for good story telling, while the majority of critics seem to still prefer pill-poppers. For thoughtful movie watchers.
