This film succeeds because of the warm and slight humour and the genuinely touching characters. Kasdan is a master of human interaction and relationships and this is another good example of his abilities.
Geena Davis has an incredible charm and William Hurt shows quiet depth in two roles that could easily have been little more than bland.
