Review of The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) by Al M — 13 May 2011
A surrealistic, thoroughly insane descent into madness from Roger Corman's AIP studios featuring Vincent Price as the epoonymous doctor. Disfigured and though dead in a car wreck that killed his wife, Dr.
Phibes seeks revenge on the doctors that failed to save her life by enacting his own version of the ten plagues of Egypt. The film features an original, art-deco style that serves as the perfect backdrop for its bizarro plot.
Cheesy but completely entertaining, Dr. Phibes will delight fans of Hammer and Corman films.
