Review of The ABCs of Death (2013) by Richard S — 22 Jun 2013
First, let me say that the later I got into the movie, the more pissed I became at it. The premise of the movie is a great, and the movie itself could have been great if it had actually tried to be. However, aside from a few of the shorts that I found pretty good, most didn't seem to take itself seriously.
I watched this movie to see a horror anthology. In most cases, I saw either complete nonsense, or a scene that I couldn't really understand due to it's little description (sometimes both). Don't get me wrong.
With 26 different directers, I knew some (perhaps many) of the shorts would be of different styles and quality, but I didn't think any of the directers would find the opportunity to be a joke. As far as it being scary, it would only really be frightening to those who dislike gore.
I give credit to the directers for creativity, as it certainly shines as something different.
