Review of The Abandoned (2006) by Tricia C — 10 Jul 2007

I saw this a few days ago in a festival, and although I was quite entertained it wasnt really that great a film. It had good cinematography, and some good sound work, even though I felt it repeated itself quite frequently with how it cut between scenes - whooshes in sound etc - and the story in places was very interesting but overall it didnt really make sense.

The film starts off slowly, and then all of a sudden you are introduced to characters who almost instantly tell each other what is going on. I think if they slowed it down a little, paced out the exposition it might have worked a lot better.

A LOT better. But it did have some creepy moments, some nasty moments, and a few "oh I see.." moments, so I guess I will give it 3.
