I'm a sucker for Ray Harryhausen movies, and Saturday matinee boys' adventure type movies in general. This was his first big fantasy epic. Kerwin Matthews is a great hero for these types of movies; there's a boyish earnestness about him that really helps you getting caught up in the fantasy and wonder.
