Review of The 6th Man (1997) by Baurushan J — 20 Jul 2013
I thought I had already reviewed this movie but oh well, Here's my review of The 6th Man. The film stars Kadeem Hardison and Marlon Wayans as basketball-playing brothers Antoine and Kenny Tyler. Both of them are athletic making them top players of their team Washington Huskies but whilst Antoine is flamboyant and attention-getting, Kenny lacks the self-confidence.
When Antoine suffers a fatal heart attack and dies during a game, Kenny is grief-stricken and the team's chances of getting through to the NCAA finals is diminished. Luckily, Antoine's ghost returns to give the Huskies a helping hand by blocking shots, tipping the ball through the hoop, tripping opposing team members, and even giving players a supernatural lift on their way to the basket.
Only Kenny cann see his brother's spirit but a school newspaper reporter named R.C. played by Michael Michele suspects the truth. This movie has everything it promises and never fails on delivering anything: The story, the characters, the genre, the visual look of the film.
The 6th Man gets a 9.6/10.
