In yet another film adaptation from the Young Adult genre, young Cassie must deal with an alien invasion that has decimated the population.

This can already be considered the first big flop of the year.

The film is a mistake in virtually every aspect: the direction of relative newcomer J Blakeson (whom I never heard of) is weak and styleless; the adaptation of the book - which is nice, by the way - is stupid, superficial and removes several elements that made the novel be interesting; the casting is absolutely ridiculous and homogeneously bad (except the competent Schreiber); even the special effects come short.

Anyway, who knows this is the precursor that these literary adaptations of YA novels must stop.

And Mortez will never be J.Law (who was the ultimate YA heroine).
