The 5th Wave is another generic young adult film that brings nothing new to the table. The film gets off on a promising start, showcasing the first three waves. But the film just goes downhill from there.
The cast really does try, especially Chloe Grace Moretz, but they can't save this film. The plot of this film is generic. The aliens attacking plot has been done many times before. Many plot points were taken from other young adult films.
Love triangle? Check. Other things that I can't say because they are a spoiler? Check. If you've seen The Hunger Games, Divergent, or The Maze Runner, you know exactly what will happen. Also, the end is just annoying sequel setup.
Overall, there is nothing new or special about this dull sci-fi film.
