Review of The 5th Wave (2016) by Stacia H — 10 Aug 2016
This movie didn't suck; it wasn't amazing but certainly holds its own. Within the genres of science fiction, dystonia futures and young adolescent literature turned to films it's great. Compare it to Hunger Games or Divergent and Maze Runner with some Ender Game; then throw in 2009s The Road.
Yeah that one; Certified Fresh, The Road. This is obviously for a different audience the PG-13 holds its own here. The flaws with this film maybe as simple as the genres current convention of taming down the book/s and splitting it across several films.
Chloƫ Grace Moretz if they can keep her has a hidden gem here. If she sticks with it and they don't cheapen the tale their weaving. She is a busy lady though who knows; maybe they'll need to recast and go straight to home video for the sequels.
