Review of The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) by Meredith W — 05 Oct 2013
The story's not too complicated. Steve Carell plays Andy, a nice, but shy and geeky guy who in is a 40 year old virgin. The guys he works with at the electronics store find out and make it their mission to change this.
Despite their bad advice, he meets a lovely woman (Catherine Keener), but can't figure out how to reveal his 'secret.' This was a funny movie but it also shows a very human story. The cast work well together, making the most ridiculous of scenes hilarious.
In fact, one of the best scenes in the movie, is one between Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen where they're playing video games and having the most infantile argument about how they know the other is gay.
Indeed, Paul Rudd is very funny as a salesman at the store who is still pining for a lost girlfriend.
