Review of The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005) by Michael M — 10 Sep 2014
It's not as good as a lot of the later Apatow pics, but it got things off to a good start. If you've seen any other Apatow films, you generally know what to expect, it's the same type of film here.
Stoner humor, lots of profanity, raunchiness, but a good heart at the end of it all. The charm of Steve Carrel in the lead also helps a lot, and makes me wonder why he never returned to any other Apatow productions.
The premise is also oddly intriguing, and I was curious to see where it would go with it. Not Apatows best, but a good heart, good cast, and enough big laughs to recommend.
