Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by Martyn H — 11 Sep 2007
A fantastic film in its own right, yet would have benefitted by including some scenes from John Buchan's Novel which could have added to the character of Hannay and the suspense and percieved evil doing of the foreign spies (the roadman chapter, the scene in the beach house near the conlusion).
On balance however, the cinematography is immensely advanced for the time, typical of hitchcock's work.
