Review of The 39 Steps (1935) by Alex V — 13 Oct 2007
His early work was not very good. He was trying to much to use that technical "genius" of his everyone is always gushing about, and didn't realize that it didn't work. Although the movie was nothing like the movie The Brothers Grimm, Hitchcock's use of "special effects" seemed to be on par with The Brothers Grimm's use of "special effects".
