Enjoyable, cute. The film really only sparked my interest once Madeleine Carroll found herself literally inseparable from Robert Donat - at which point the whole movie felt like "It Happened One Night: the Spy Edition.

" I do think it's interesting to contrast early Hitchcock to later Hitchcock, and how in his films from the 30's there is always a sense of frivolity or light-heartedness to the otherwise grave plotlines.

While I was tempted to lose interest in the early middle portion of the film, it does build up to its Hitchcock-ian climax well with an ending that is at once romantic and suspenseful.
