Review of The 25th Reich (2012) by Grayson D — 10 May 2012
"We've come back to the past to save the future, gentlemen; to put an end to the tyranny of Hitler's Third Reich".
To be precise, that's 50,000 years in the past.
Not to be confused with the other forthcoming sci-fi Nazi invasion movie, 'Iron Sky', 'The 25th Reich' is a crazy adventure about a small band of WW2 GIs that set off in the Australian outback to capture a couple of escaped pumas and end up time-travelling to stop the German army taking over the world.
This is the second film that I've seen recently that can't really be written about without giving away all the surprises. Now, in my book, that's a sign of a good movie although it does mean that unfortunately there's hardly anything else that can be said other than it's an audaciously fun film with some eyebrow raising scenes. Admittedly the special effects aren't the greatest you'll ever see and none of the actors are likely to be putting an Oscar on their mantelpieces any time soon - yep, this is definitely B-movie territory - but a film this mental just wouldn't work any other way.
Possibly the most ambitious low-budget movie ever made, this one has to be seen to be believed.
