Review of The 15:17 to Paris (2018) by Lorene L — 15 Feb 2018
I loved this movie. The critics criticize Eastwood for casting the real-life heroes, but I thought this was a nice touch. They didn't come across as bad actors. Rather, they came across as the real people they are.
When you see these guys on interviews, they behave just as they do in the film. One thing I wasn't expecting -- the movie was mostly about their friendship from childhood on. The train incident is only about 20 minutes long at the end of the movie.
Before that, I kept thinking, "C'mon! Get on that darn train." But in retrospect, I really enjoyed the character development. And the train scene was just about right -- to see all we needed to see.
It's an inspirational story, and it sure makes you proud of these guys and proud to be an American! This is not a popular sentiment in the artsy-fartsy critic world, and I suspect this is the major reason they gave it a low score.
