Review of The 11th Hour (2007) by Nacia S — 31 Aug 2007
I loved Stardust. My friend Amy has been obsessed with Neil Gaiman forever. Another friend gave me the graphic novel of Stardust over 10 years ago. And still when this movie was about to come out I didn't realize it was THAT Stardust.
It was really good. I'd have to say it's in my top favorite movies now. I loved the humor and all the characters. I don't really get why some critics didn't like it. But that didn't stop me from loving it.
The Prince ghosts were hilarious. The main love story was really sweet as well.
Wim got free tickets to go see a screeing of the 11th Hour. We brought along 2 friends that I know wanted to see it. They both work for a large environmental company. Anyway that movie is way more intense than the Inconvenient Truth. I actually got a stomach ache from some of the words and images. Leonardo DiCaprio narrates the movie, but he isn't shown all that much. Everyone interviewed for this movie gives like 40 examples of why the Earth is screwed. The last 15 minutes or so they gave a few suggestions of how to help, but they made it clear that the US Governement really needs to step up and change a lot of things.
After the movie there was a question & answer period by 4 activists/professors. My friend Ken asked a question about wind energy. Apparently there is a way to choose to use Wind or alternative power instead of oil/coal. There is a small sure charge, but it makes them (WE energies) spend 100% of your money on alternative energy. Almost everyone except for us had heard of this. Anyway Ken ended up talking to all 4 of these people at great length and asking them for advise on a big project he is working on. Also I found out he is giving a speech on the climate crisis in October.
Well anyway the movie is good but not enjoyable to watch.
