Review of The 11th Hour (2007) by Scott K — 26 Feb 2010
The 11th Hour is a documentary about climate change narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. The film uses a large number of expert interviews amid scenes of weather events and agricultural/industrial processes.
The film is less science based and more opinion based than "An Inconvenient Truth". There are a large number of experts giving their opinion but the problem is that there are just too many interviews crammed into a short period of time. This creates a blizzard of information that causes focus to shift from the narrative to trying to keep the experts distinguished from one another.
DiCaprio's commitment to this crisis is to be admired, but he doesn't make the best narrator for the film. The sound of his voice doesn't have the same weight as someone like Morgan Freeman or even Michael Moore.
This film is an acceptable addition to the topic of climate change but it doesn't cover much territory that "An Inconvenient Truth" didn't cover better.
