Review of That's My Boy (1951) by David N — 03 Sep 2013
With little hope in Adam Sandler comedies these days, I still decided to check out That's My Boy. Sandler plays Donny Andy Samberg's father who slept with his teacher and they had a son. The notion of teenage kid sleeping with his beautiful teacher brought on money and success and put the now pregnant teacher in jail. As expected with most childhood success stories, too much money, drugs and alcohol cost Donny all his "success" and his relationship with his son Todd. With Donny needing money to stay out of jail, he turns to his successful son soon before his wedding day.
It wasn't as bad as Jack and Jill but I did enjoy Grown Ups more for what it matters. I don't understand why Sandler continues to make these cheesy raunchy kid comedies that don't work. He has all that money piled up and a name that will green light anything. I just wish he had some serious direction but in saying that, my childhood love of Adam Sandler will continue as I keep seeing everything he does and remain a fan.
