Review of That Thing You Do! (1996) by Sam B — 04 Dec 2008
An enjoyable enough piece of fluff from first-time director Tom Hanks, although the title song wears out its welcome soon into the film. By the end your glad this made-for-TV-esque movie is over. Not too surprisingly, the film features many cameos and up and coming faces, the cameos all probably owed Hanks a favor and the newcomers were just eager to work with a movie icon.
Too bad Hanks isn't as good behind the camera as he is in front.
