Visually this movie worked, perhaps some more stir-up pants, but they got the early 60's scene. A movie like this will work only if you can relate to the title song. I did, so I bought into the whole state-fair scene.
It is essentially a formula film, small town boy goes to the west coast. It works in this case. A week-end matinee type movie, good fun for the family. A good and believable cast.
