Harmless coming of age comedy about the perils of fame. A lot of fun and a good nature allows this film to be entertaining but not to heavy handed with it's message. Tom Hanks is a good director but clearly wanted to play it safe for the sake of mass appeal.
.. Probably a wise choice.
