Review of That Obscure Object of Desire (1977) by Reza S — 10 Aug 2008
Bunuel's last film is also probably one of his very best. A middle-aged man falls hopelessly in love with a young woman (alternately played by TWO actresses) while Europe is being plagued by terrorist attacks.
The film is erotic, darkly funny and surreal in other words, Bunuel at his very best. Fernando Rey gives a great performance in the lead. Bunuel is one of the few people who can honestly say he went out with a bang.
