Review of That Hamilton Woman (1941) by Robbie H — 29 Jan 2008
The true and tragic story of Emma Hamilton, the rags to riches beauty who captured national naval hero Nelson's heart. Unfortunately, they are both married to others and scandal ensues, but their love endures. With Vivien Leigh, just two years after her tour de force performance as Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind" and at the height of her luminous beauty, and real-life husbnad, Laurence Olivier, at the height of his virile beauty, as Nelson.
Supposedly Winston Churchill's favorite film. I can imagine the themes of the struggle to defeat a tyrant and sacrificing for one's country would have resonated with him.
