Review of That Evening Sun (2009) by Andrew J — 25 Jan 2010
Let me start by saying that Hal Holbrook was amazing, also the Cinematography was really good. in terms of the script, it had major holes, pointless scenes, and crappy dialogue. The acting was spotty throughout the whole film, especially the role of the mother, she was really bad, and compared to Holbrook she was ultimately a gaping hole in the movie.
the father grew into his role, at the beginning of the movie he is about on par with his wife but as the film progresses he gets into his character. I would have to say that aside from Holbrook, Mia W.
was the next best playing the daughter she was just right for her role I think, as well as the Holbrook's next door neighbor/friend. Hollbrook's son was CRAP. Overall I wold not recommend this movie to anyone just because it lagged along A LOT, the exposition for the story lasted about the first 1.
5 hours and then the last 30 min were the climax, followed by the end which didn't really end. so it was not a really bad movie but it was just nothing, with some complaints, it would have been worse had it not been for the staggering beautiful cinematography.
all this earned this film its three star rating.
