Review of That Awkward Moment (2014) by Brett H — 23 Apr 2014
Fairly typical in the buddy romance genre and it bows down to the cliche-formula you expect, but it is slightly saved by the chemistry between the actors and a few chuckle-worthy moments. The problem with the film is the writing and in particular; the dialogue, which is so copy and paste from scene-to-scene that numerous scenes literally end with the Michael B.
Jordan character saying, "you guys are idiots". On that note, his character is the most like a real human-being, while Zac Efron and Miles Teller are both trying to out-Vince Vaughn one another with their rapid, "witty" banter.
There are a few humorous situations that produce a grin, but the whole idea of this film doesn't make sense and the three leads' bet to stay single has no gain from doing this. Not worthless, and I do like the cast, but they need a smarter film that isn't chalk-full of recycled material.
